How EUVC handles personal information across its media, Academy, events, professional relationships and data products.
This Privacy Policy explains how EUVC collects, uses, combines, enriches, analyses, shares, commercialises, protects and retains personal information in connection with its websites, newsletters, subscriptions, events, Academy programmes, communities, media, professional relationships, research, data products, software and related operations.
This Policy is a transparency notice, not blanket consent for every future use. Where processing requires additional notice, consent or other safeguards, EUVC will comply with those requirements.
EUVC operates through EUVC Portugal, Lda (VAT PT513784080, Alameda das Linhas de Torres 230, 5A, 1750-150 Lisbon, Portugal); EUVC UK Ltd (company number 15697760, 4th Floor, c/o Isomer Capital LLP, 17a Curzon Street, London, W1J 5HS, United Kingdom); EUVC Denmark ApS (CVR 43313940, Marsvænget 59, 6710 Esbjerg V, Denmark); and EUVC Syndicate Limited (company number 14726060, Censeo House, 6 St. Peters Street, St. Albans, AL1 3LF, United Kingdom).
Depending on an activity, one or more group entities may act as independent controllers, joint controllers or processors. The responsible controller is determined by which entity actually determines the purposes and means of processing, not simply by the invoice issuer. Transaction and service notices identify relevant entities where necessary. Where joint control exists, EUVC maintains required arrangements and makes their essential elements available. Individuals can contact [email protected] for identification of the responsible entity, exercise of their rights and controller-specific information.
This group-wide policy does not allocate each product permanently to one legal entity. Where a more specific privacy notice is required or a distinct entity acts as controller, the relevant disclosure applies alongside this Policy.
The central privacy contact for EUVC is [email protected]. Requests are routed to the responsible organisation and handled within applicable legal deadlines. This address is not a representation that an individual employee has been appointed as data protection officer. Where a data protection officer or representative must be appointed by law, EUVC will comply with that requirement and make their contact details available.
We may process information about website visitors, subscribers, Academy learners, event participants, speakers, instructors, members, sponsors, advertisers, suppliers, professional partners, founders, investors, fund managers, employees of organisations, people appearing in professional intelligence or editorial records, job candidates and investment-related contacts.
Depending on the relationship, we may process names, contact details, professional roles, employers, biographies, affiliations, professional online profiles, investment and funding activity, accounts, preferences, communication history, CRM notes, event attendance, educational submissions, photographs, voice and video recordings, transcripts, contractual records, purchase and invoice information, payment references, technical logs, IP addresses, cookies, website use, email engagement, research data and commercially relevant professional information.
We may also derive classifications, inferred professional interests, business relationships, investment interests, engagement segments, data-quality assessments and other insights through lawful research, analytics or AI-assisted analysis. Full card details are generally handled by payment providers. We avoid unnecessary special-category data and process it only where an applicable additional legal condition is met.
Data may come directly from individuals and their organisations, EUVC websites and systems, purchases and registrations, public sites, professional networks, company registries, published company and funding information, co-organisers, sponsors, lawful commercial datasets, authorised research services and relevant third-party providers. We may create derived records through analysis and enrichment.
Where personal data is obtained indirectly, EUVC provides the transparency information required by law, within applicable deadlines and subject to properly assessed statutory exceptions. Public availability alone is not unlimited permission to use or sell personal data.
We process account, subscription, event, learning and transaction information to provide Services, verify eligibility, administer access, respond to enquiries, fulfil orders and manage customer relationships. Legal bases include performance of a contract or steps requested before entering a contract, together with legitimate interests or other appropriate bases for representatives or relevant third parties.
We use relevant records for invoicing, accounting, taxes, payments, fraud prevention, identity checks, investment administration, audit, legal claims and applicable regulatory duties. Legal bases include contracts, legal obligations and legitimate interests in operating and protecting the business.
EUVC may maintain professional records, correspondence, meeting notes, roles, affiliations, introductions, business opportunities and relationship histories in CRM and other operational systems. We generally rely on legitimate interests in maintaining appropriate business relationships and providing relevant professional services, after assessment of the impact on individuals and applicable rights.
EUVC may combine relevant information across Beehiiv, Circle, Attio, Stripe, websites, events, educational programmes, analytics, communications and other lawful business systems. Purposes may include unified records, accuracy, customer service, segmentation, product development, analytics, recommendations, professional intelligence, commercial activity and security.
EUVC may consolidate, migrate and replace tools as its business develops. Combining systems does not override purpose limitations, unsubscribe choices, marketing restrictions or lawful-basis requirements.
EUVC may research, organise, classify, publish and license professional and business information about companies, founders, investors, funds, funding rounds, professionals and the technology ecosystem. Offerings may include editorial articles, reports, directories, profiles, datasets, benchmarks, search tools, APIs, analytical products and commercial intelligence.
Legal bases may include legitimate interests in lawful research, publication and commercial intelligence, contract where providing a purchased product, applicable freedom-of-expression or journalistic provisions and consent or another appropriate basis where required. Processing is subject to fairness, accuracy, minimisation, source restrictions, transparency and objection rights.
EUVC may lawfully verify, enhance and classify records using public professional sources, authorised third-party data and information from established relationships. We may derive role, sector, organisation, professional interest, investment profile, engagement or relationship classifications. We assess the necessity and impact of legitimate-interest profiling and honour applicable objections and other rights.
EUVC may use internal and third-party AI systems to transcribe, summarise, search, classify, research, draft, analyse, deduplicate, enrich and support content, CRM, professional intelligence, products and operations. Relevant lawful bases may include legitimate interests, contract or consent depending on the processing.
We will apply appropriate security, confidentiality, contracts and vendor governance, including safeguards for data retention, onward sharing and model training where needed. This Policy does not authorise unrestricted AI training on personal or confidential information. If solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects are undertaken, applicable special safeguards and rights will be provided.
EUVC may operate multiple newsletters and audience segments and promote related publications, Academy Services, events, research and other EUVC products. We may recommend or add individuals to related publications when applicable electronic-marketing and data protection rules lawfully permit it.
Where separate consent is required for marketing or cross-subscription, we obtain it before sending. Where a legally available existing-customer exception applies, we comply with its conditions, including similar-product limits and opportunities to object. We maintain relevant preferences and suppression records. Subscribers can unsubscribe or object without charge using the communication controls or [email protected].
EUVC may use lawful account, professional, transactional and engagement information for relevant communications, segmentation, analytics, campaigns and recommendations. Electronic-marketing permissions and consent for non-essential tracking are obtained where required. Direct-marketing objections are honoured and limited suppression information may be retained to prevent unwanted communications.
EUVC may share aggregated campaign statistics, event engagement metrics, relevant professional or company information and, where lawfully supported, identifiable attendee or professional contact data with sponsors, exhibitors, co-organisers, advertisers and commercial partners. Sharing may support joint events, business introductions, lead generation, research and lawful commercial collaboration.
Identifiable disclosure requires an appropriate lawful basis, transparency and necessary agreements. Where a partner's own marketing requires separate consent or permissions, EUVC obtains those permissions before the disclosure or communication. Event attendance alone does not amount to unlimited consent for independent sponsor marketing. Partners acting as independent controllers are responsible for their own legal obligations.
EUVC may collect registrations, participation records, photographs, audio, video and transcripts for running events, educational programmes, podcasts and community activities. Subject to applicable rights and permissions, recordings may support educational delivery, editorial publication, archives, promotion, marketing, research and commercial products. Advance notices and additional releases or consent are provided where required, particularly for private sessions and identifiable promotional use.
EUVC group entities may share appropriate data for administration, finance, legal compliance, security, customer delivery, relationships, analytics, research, AI-assisted operations and lawful product development. Each entity's role depends on the processing activity. Access is restricted to relevant business needs and applicable controller, processor, joint-controller and international transfer rules.
We may share relevant personal data with providers of email and publishing (including Beehiiv), membership and learning (including Circle), payments (including Stripe), CRM (including Attio), accounting (including Xero and TOConline), hosting, analytics, security, customer support, research, events, AI, enrichment and automation.
Other recipients may include event partners, sponsors, accountants, lawyers, auditors, banks, investment administrators, regulatory authorities and lawful business successors. Appropriate processing contracts are used where providers act on EUVC's behalf. Independent controllers operate under their respective obligations. Categories and specific providers may change as EUVC develops its Services.
EUVC operates across Portugal, Denmark, the United Kingdom and other jurisdictions used by lawful vendors. Data may be processed or accessed internationally. Where required, transfers rely on applicable adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, UK international data transfer instruments or another permitted safeguard, with supplementary measures where necessary. Information about relevant safeguards may be requested at [email protected].
EUVC keeps personal data while reasonably necessary for its processing purposes or legal obligations. Account and customer records may be retained throughout the relationship and thereafter for support, claims and legal duties; tax and accounting records for statutory periods; marketing preferences while valid, with suppression records retained where necessary; professional and CRM data while relevant for lawful research or relationships; learning and event records for delivery, archives and other justified uses; security logs for proportionate operational periods; and legal/compliance files for applicable periods.
EUVC conducts purpose-based reviews of relevance, accuracy and necessity and deletes, anonymises or minimises information no longer justified. No universal fixed deletion date applies to every professional record or lawfully retained recording.
We seek reasonable accuracy, especially for published professional records and intelligence. Individuals may ask to correct or complete personal information, and EUVC assesses such requests alongside applicable journalism, freedom-of-expression and other legal provisions.
EUVC uses proportionate technical and organisational safeguards, including access controls, authentication, vendor arrangements, confidentiality protections, appropriate monitoring and incident management. No online system can guarantee complete security. Data breaches are assessed and notified to individuals or authorities where legally required.
EUVC may use essential website technologies and, where lawfully permitted, analytics, performance, personalisation and marketing technologies. Where consent is required, non-essential technologies are activated only after that consent. The website cookie interface provides relevant controls, provider information and options to amend or withdraw preferences as applicable.
Depending on applicable law, individuals may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection or consent withdrawal and may exercise rights relating to certain automated decisions. Direct-marketing objections may be made at any time without charge. Send requests to [email protected]. EUVC will respond within statutory deadlines, ordinarily one month under GDPR where applicable, subject to lawful extensions and identity verification.
Individuals appearing in professional datasets or profiles may request correction or object to processing relying on legitimate interests. EUVC assesses such requests against the applicable lawful basis, individual circumstances, legitimate grounds and any journalistic or other legal rights. Where the law requires processing to cease, EUVC will act accordingly. Direct-marketing objections are handled separately under applicable rules.
EUVC may undertake professional segmentation and analysis that does not necessarily constitute solely automated decision-making with legal or similarly significant effects. If EUVC carries out such specially regulated decision-making, it will provide the lawful basis, disclosures, safeguards, access to appropriate human intervention and relevant rights of challenge.
EUVC may receive confidential business materials, meeting notes, discussions and commercial submissions. Separate confidentiality commitments and applicable legal duties continue to apply. We avoid unnecessary special-category information and obtain applicable additional safeguards or legal conditions when it must be processed.
Investment-related operations may involve identity, financial, tax, regulatory, anti-money-laundering and investor administration information. Investment vehicles, nominees and administrators may have distinct privacy roles and notices. This Policy does not replace investment-specific disclosures.
We may process recruitment information under appropriate contractual, legal or legitimate-interest bases and applicable retention criteria. EUVC's principal Services are professional and adult-oriented. Where activities involve minors, relevant age and parental-authorisation protections apply. Public communities, profiles and publications may expose deliberately published information to others; independent linked sites follow their own privacy practices.
EUVC may lawfully disclose or transfer appropriate information in connection with group restructuring, business transfers, financing, mergers, security incidents, legal claims and regulatory requirements. Applicable lawful bases, confidentiality, transparency, transfer and security requirements continue to apply. Material changes may require additional notice or consent.
You can raise privacy concerns through [email protected] and may complain to the competent supervisory authority. Relevant authorities may include Portugal's Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (https://www.cnpd.pt), the UK Information Commissioner's Office (https://ico.org.uk) and Denmark's Datatilsynet (https://www.datatilsynet.dk), depending on the responsible entity and circumstances. Judicial remedies may also be available.
EUVC may update this Policy when Services, entities, processing practices, vendors or law change. The current version is published at https://www.eu.vc/privacy. Where material processing changes require additional notice or consent, EUVC will provide it. Earlier versions are retained for historical reference.
For all privacy enquiries, access requests, corrections, objections, marketing preferences and complaints, email [email protected]. EUVC routes requests to the legally responsible organisation and provides additional controller-specific information where required.
This superseded Privacy Policy is maintained for historical reference. It is not the current Privacy Policy.
