Look for these five warning signs:
Contradictions: Individual parts of the strategy look strong but do not reinforce one another.
Claims without evidence: The strategy relies on ambition rather than proof.
Portfolio mismatch: Fund size and portfolio construction do not fit together.
Team gaps: The team does not cover the capabilities the strategy requires.
Weak LP fit: The target LP list is broad but the value proposition is unclear.
If you spot one, revisit the underlying assumption rather than polishing around it. Your first completed Canvas should be a diagnostic, not a finished answer.
