Reykjavík-based HR software company 50skills has raised $6m in a funding round co-led by Frumtak Ventures, Swiss Post Ventures, Avant and DRD Investments.
50skills combines Hire, its applicant-tracking system, with Journeys, a platform that turns descriptions of employee processes into running workflows. The company says its customers completed more than 4 million actions on the platform over the past year. It will use the funding to hire across sales, marketing and community, continue developing its platform and AI agents, and expand beyond the Nordics and UK into the US and Benelux.
Automation boundaries are part of the product
HR workflows mix predictable steps, such as issuing standard documents or provisioning equipment, with tasks that require interpretation and decisions that should remain with people. 50skills separates those layers: rules-based automation handles repeatable work, agents handle selected interpretive steps, and human oversight remains around consequential decisions.
That division can make the platform easier to adopt than an agent asked to run an entire people process without constraints. The commercial test is whether 50skills can convert its existing action volume into broader, end-to-end deployments while preserving permissions, auditability and clear escalation points as it enters larger markets.
