PRESS RELEASE

Lisbon, Portugal, October 30, 2026 – Three in four Limited Partners (LPs) surveyed by EUVC are comfortable with AI-assisted quarterly reporting, provided the General Partner (GP) reviews and takes responsibility for the final output.
The finding represents over 75% of the responses analysed.
These preliminary results, shared ahead of Web Summit 2026 in Lisbon from November 9 to 12, form part of EUVC's ongoing LP Trust Report 2026 research into what LPs expect from quarterly fund updates and how they use them.
While respondents show openness to AI assistance, written feedback from the 2025 and 2026 surveys highlights a recurring expectation: LPs want to understand investment performance and the manager's assessment, not simply receive portfolio data.
Other preliminary findings include:
LPs value both summaries and detail. 94% of the respondents rated a one-page fund performance overview as a main reason to read an update or information that should be included. Similarly, 90% gave one of those two ratings to detailed portfolio company reporting.
PDF preference is broadly stable across the samples, but single-format selection differs. In 2026, 37.7% selected PDF with a brief email without choosing additional formats, compared with 15.4% in the 2025 survey. Overall selection of PDF with a brief email was similar, at 79.2% and 76.9% respectively. These figures reflect stated preferences rather than actual usage.
Quarterly updates also play a role in due diligence. More than 80% said they request access to past quarterly updates when evaluating fund managers.
David Cruz e Silva, Founder of EUVC, says AI may make quarterly updates easier to prepare, but preparing a report is not the same as explaining an investment.
"LPs need to understand what has changed in the portfolio, how that compares with the original investment thesis and what the manager makes of those developments. That judgement and accountability must remain with the GP."
About the research
The preliminary findings are based on responses submitted by 29th October 2026 to EUVC's ongoing online survey of LPs investing in venture capital funds. Respondents include funds of funds, family offices, corporate venture investors and other LP profiles, predominantly based in Europe.
Eligible LPs can contribute to the ongoing research through the LP Trust Report survey.
