€6.4m · Seed · Precision diagnostics · Vienna, Austria
Aitiologic, a Vienna-based precision medicine company developing tissue-resolved liquid-biopsy diagnostics, has raised €6.4m in seed financing co-led by Heal Capital and Ananda Impact Ventures. PUSH VC, LANA Ventures and Gordon Sanghera also participated. The company will fund large-scale validation and regulated product development of its Aitios platform, beginning with first-trimester preeclampsia risk assessment.
A routine prenatal sample can carry a second diagnostic layer
Preeclampsia screening already sits inside an established first-trimester care pathway, but current risk identification can miss patients who might benefit from earlier prevention and monitoring. Aitiologic combines genomic, epigenomic and fragmentomic signals from cell-free DNA to infer their tissue of origin, aiming to extract maternal and placental information from the same blood sample used for non-invasive prenatal testing.
That reuse of an existing sample could lower the operational burden of introducing a new diagnostic, but clinical adoption depends on more than assay performance. Aitiologic must turn its ongoing study of more than 1,000 pregnancies into evidence suitable for regulated product development and clinician decisions. The seed round therefore finances the translation step between promising biological signal and a repeatable care pathway.
