Alfa AI, a London-based platform that automates candidate sourcing, screening and evaluation, has raised £1m in seed funding. The company said the round was led by Sake Bosch, with participation from FirstDegree, Golden Egg Check and Black Green Capital. The capital will support product development, customer success, deeper AI capabilities and international expansion.
From candidate volume to a ranked shortlist
Alfa is designed to cover several steps that recruiters normally handle across separate tools. The company says its software searches a large pool of profiles, publishes job adverts, conducts audio or video screening and returns evidence-backed candidate scores before syncing selected applicants into an employer’s applicant-tracking system. Its site lists integrations with Greenhouse, Workday, Lever, Ashby, Bullhorn and more than 70 other systems.
The commercial proposition is therefore not only faster search. By moving sourcing, initial screening and evaluation into one workflow, Alfa is asking customers to let the platform complete more of the repetitive work before a recruiter reviews a shortlist. That can reduce handoffs and make the product more deeply embedded in a hiring team’s daily process. It also raises the standard for evidence: Alfa’s employer terms explicitly warn that automated outputs may be incomplete, inaccurate or biased and do not guarantee candidate suitability. The company’s ability to combine automation with auditable assessments and human control will matter as it sells into larger employers.
Traction meets enterprise execution
Alfa says it supported hundreds of hires in its first year for customers including Revolut, Google and staffing agencies; this is a company-reported claim rather than independently audited traction. BusinessCloud reports that Alfa was founded in 2025 by Alfie Whattam, Ed Godshaw and Linda Yu, and that the company had previously raised £500,000 in pre-seed funding in February 2025. The same report says former Dragons’ Den investor and recruitment entrepreneur James Caan joined as a strategic adviser following the seed round.
That appointment gives Alfa access to recruitment-industry operating experience while the new capital funds the technical and customer-success work needed to turn early deployments into repeatable enterprise use. The execution test is whether the platform can demonstrate consistent screening quality across different roles and employers while fitting into the systems and review processes those organisations already use.
