Amra Medical, a Linköping-based health informatics company, has secured an undisclosed investment from life sciences investor HealthCap.
The company says the capital will fund continued research and development, product innovation and international commercial expansion. Amra turns standard MRI images into automated, standardised biomarkers for muscle and fat composition, supporting clinical research, drug development and patient care.
Standardised imaging can make trial data more useful
Amra's commercial proposition is not another scanner. Its software extracts consistent muscle and fat measurements from MRI images that research sites already produce. For pharmaceutical teams, standardised biomarkers can make body-composition changes easier to compare across patients, sites and time points, improving the evidence available for trial design and endpoint selection.
That makes validation and workflow consistency central to growth. Expanding internationally means more than signing research customers: Amra must preserve protocol quality as additional imaging sites contribute data. HealthCap's life sciences network can support distribution, but repeatable analysis across sites is what turns scientific credibility into a scalable service.
