£2.2m · Pre-Seed · Healthtech · London, UK
Big Picture Bio, a London company using AI world models to design drug combinations for cancer and other complex diseases, has secured £2.2m in combined financing. Its £1.5m pre-seed equity round was co-led by Kadmos Capital and Exceptional Ventures, with Gloucester Ventures and John White participating. The company also received £700k in non-dilutive Innovate UK support. The financing will move initial combinations from computational design into wet-lab validation.
The £2.2m headline combines £1.5m of equity with a separate £700k grant; the funding classification follows Tech.eu's Pre-Seed label for the event.
Drug combinations make validation the decisive bridge
Combining therapies expands the search space far beyond testing one molecule at a time. Big Picture Bio's model aims to narrow that space by predicting how disease systems respond to combinations, giving researchers a smaller set of candidates to test. The value is not the simulation alone, but whether it can direct scarce laboratory work towards more promising experiments.
That makes wet-lab validation the company's next commercial proof point. Reproducible results can turn computational recommendations into evidence for pharmaceutical partners, while weak translation would limit the model's utility. Pairing equity with grant funding gives the team capital for company building and non-dilutive support for the experimental work needed to establish that bridge.
