$6m · Pre-Seed · Software · Munich, Germany
Munich-based calliora, which builds AI software for hospital revenue management, has raised $6m in pre-seed funding, according to Tech Funding News. Bertelsmann Healthcare Investments and Redalpine led the round, joined by angels from hospital management and AI. The company says the capital will expand its AI, engineering and product teams and extend the platform across more stages of a hospital case.
Hospital economics begins before the invoice
calliora targets the handoffs between admission, clinical documentation, coding, case review and reimbursement. Its platform creates a shared working context for each case, surfaces missing diagnoses or evidence and guides the next action before an invoice reaches an insurer. Staff review and approve the output, keeping the product on the administrative side of care rather than making clinical decisions.
That timing is the commercial mechanism. A documentation gap found while a case is open can be corrected by the team that has the context; the same gap discovered during an insurer audit can trigger repayment risk and more manual work. calliora says its software can start from existing routine data before a larger integration project, giving a hospital a way to identify revenue opportunities and process risks before committing to a full rollout.
The company reports more than 50% less time per case, 90% of documentation gaps closed before billing and over 25% fewer disputed cases. Those figures are company claims and the hospitals are not named in the funding reporting, so the next proof point is repeatable performance across customers rather than a single technical demonstration. If calliora can preserve those results while fitting different hospital processes and systems, implementation can become a source of retention; if each deployment remains heavily bespoke, specialist delivery capacity will constrain growth.
Deployment carries a high trust burden
Co-founders Frederik Träuble and Jonas Wildberger previously worked in AI research and industry and hold AI doctorates from the Max Planck Institute, according to calliora's company page. The product handles sensitive patient and case data, making security part of the buying decision as well as a technical requirement. calliora lists ISO/IEC 27001 certification, BSI C5 attestation and EU-based processing on its security page. The funding therefore backs both product expansion and the less visible work of proving that hospital automation can be governed, audited and trusted in daily operations.
