Belgian energy optimisation company CIOC Energy has raised €3m in growth capital from renewable-energy developer CleverNett, which has taken a minority stake. CIOC Energy will remain independently operated.
CIOC Energy combines monitoring, control and energy trading for commercial solar panels, batteries and charging installations. The company says the capital will expand its commercial and technical teams and build direct access to energy markets in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Romania. It currently manages systems at more than 100 business sites, alongside about 2,000 home batteries through CleverNett.
Bringing fragmented energy assets under one operator
Commercial energy systems are often split among installers, local controllers and traders, leaving asset owners responsible when the parts fail to deliver the expected return. CIOC Energy's pitch is to connect those functions through its own control module, optimisation software and market access.
CleverNett brings both capital and a channel into operating assets, having first worked with CIOC Energy as a customer. The partnership can accelerate deployment, but it also tests CIOC Energy's independence: the platform must optimise consistently for asset owners while scaling across markets with different trading and balancing rules.
