$40m · Other round · Software · London, UK
Cognitive Credit, a London company building data and AI tools for institutional corporate-credit teams, has completed a $40m strategic growth investment led by Summit Partners, with continued participation from ETFS Capital. The company says the capital will support US commercial expansion, broader issuer coverage and its next generation of credit-research products.
In credit AI, provenance is part of the product
Cognitive Credit turns corporate disclosures into structured fundamental data and combines that layer with analytics and domain-specific generative AI. Its web application, Excel add-in, REST API and Claude connector let analysts use the same underlying data inside established research workflows, with outputs traceable to source. The company says its platform now covers more than 3,500 bond and loan issuers across the US, Europe and emerging markets.
That audit trail is commercially important because a credit team must be able to defend both the numbers in a model and the reasoning behind an investment view. General-purpose AI can speed up document work, but it does not by itself solve the fragmented disclosures, private reporting and data-quality controls that underpin credit analysis. Cognitive Credit's proposition is therefore not simply an assistant: the curated data layer and its delivery into spreadsheets, internal systems and conversational tools can make the product part of a customer's recurring research infrastructure.
The company reports 240% active-user growth over the past three years, more than double its previous issuer coverage, use in workflows at over 80% of the top 25 global asset managers by assets under management, and adoption by all top 10 global debt league-table investment banks. These are company-provided figures published with the funding announcement.
Private issuers create the next data test
Cognitive Credit plans to launch DealConnect, designed to provide on-demand models for private issuers that report through secure data rooms, and says agentic credit analysis is also pending. Moving from public filings into permissioned private information could widen the platform's role, but it raises the execution bar: access controls, document freshness and traceable outputs need to survive across confidential material and different customer systems. The expansion will matter if the company can make those controls repeatable rather than bespoke for each institution.
The round is substantially larger than Cognitive Credit's $10m Series B announced in 2024, which ETFS Capital led. That earlier financing followed a £6m Series A in 2021 and funded market expansion and product development. Summit's investment now backs a broader scale-up across US distribution, private-credit data and AI-assisted research.
