€10m · Series A · AI · Milan, Italy
Milan-based Datapizza has raised €10m in Series A funding led by Nextalia Ventures, marking the first time the company has opened its capital to outside investors. Datapizza says the money will increase its capacity for enterprise projects, accelerate a proprietary platform for orchestrating AI agents that is already in production with its first paying customers, and extend its offer to Italy's mid-market.
AI deployment is the product
Datapizza's premise is that access to capable models is no longer the main obstacle for large companies. The harder work sits between a model and a live business process: integrating legacy systems and scattered data, documenting workflows, training employees and keeping the result governable. Its offer therefore combines custom AI engineering with adoption programmes, change management and technology recruiting. The company presents its systems as vendor-neutral, while its open AI framework provides interfaces, observability and orchestration for agents and retrieval-based applications.
That mix creates a specific scaling challenge. Services teams learn how customers' data, approvals and legacy systems actually work, but bespoke delivery can keep revenue tied to specialist headcount. Datapizza's orchestration platform is an attempt to turn repeated engineering patterns into reusable product infrastructure. If it reduces the work needed to deploy each new project, the company can serve more customers without expanding delivery capacity at the same rate. If implementations remain highly customised, the planned move into smaller companies will still depend on scarce engineering and change-management talent.
A community became a distribution advantage
Datapizza started as a technology community in 2021 and became a company in 2023. It says the community now reaches more than 500,000 people, while the business has grown to over 90 staff, including 60 AI engineers and solution architects. The company names Allianz and Credem among enterprise customers and says revenue nearly increased tenfold during three years of bootstrapped growth. Those are company claims, but they show why Datapizza raised after proving demand rather than before finding a market.
The community can support the next phase in two ways: it gives Datapizza an audience for explaining enterprise AI, and it feeds a recruiting network for the people needed to deliver projects. The Series A now tests whether that distribution base and customer work can be converted into a more repeatable deployment model. Nextalia's stated thesis is that value will come from bringing AI into business processes neutrally and securely. The commercial proof will be whether Datapizza can standardise enough of that work to reach mid-sized customers while preserving the governance and integration depth that won larger enterprises.
