€800k · Seed · Software · Sofia, Bulgaria
Sofia-based DiscreteStack has raised €800k in seed funding to expand its private AI infrastructure into finance, insurance and the public sector, and to increase access to GPU computing capacity. The company said the round was led by CleverPine Ventures, with angel investors Milen Manev of Next Solutions and RE:Benefit and Stoil Vasilev of Paypercut joining alongside smaller investors.
DiscreteStack packages open-weight AI models, an optimised inference runtime and enterprise controls into a self-hosted system that runs on customer-controlled infrastructure. The company says deployments can operate on-premise, in a private environment or fully disconnected from the internet, allowing sensitive data to remain inside the organisation. Its target buyers are enterprises that want production AI without routing workloads through an external model provider.
Making private AI a repeatable product
The commercial bet is that regulated organisations will pay for a packaged alternative to both public AI APIs and an internal build. DiscreteStack says each deployment combines model compilation, scheduling, caching, routing, monitoring, access controls and integrations. Bringing those layers together can shorten deployment work for buyers that need privacy and governance, while a flat-rate licence gives finance and procurement teams a more predictable cost than metered token usage.
That model also moves the execution burden onto DiscreteStack. Running capable open models on a customer's hardware requires the software to perform reliably across different GPU configurations, security policies and internal systems. The company says its hardware-native optimisation can run large models on a single standalone server, but repeatable customer deployments will matter more than benchmark claims. The seed capital therefore links directly to the constraint: more GPU access can support the engineering and testing needed to turn bespoke infrastructure work into a standard product.
Regulated sectors raise the proof threshold
Founded in 2025 by Hristo Todorov, DiscreteStack says it had secured its first enterprise customers in Bulgaria and abroad within eight months. Todorov previously co-founded software engineering company CleverPine and the earlier agency Upnetix, which exited in 2018. The company presents that delivery experience as the basis for building AI systems for environments where reliability and control matter.
Moving into finance, insurance and the public sector can strengthen demand for private deployments because those buyers face tighter data, audit and procurement requirements. It also lengthens sales and implementation cycles. The next milestone is not simply adding organisations interested in sovereign AI, but showing that the same technical stack can pass different customers' security reviews and move from trial to repeatable production use.
