€2m · Pre-Seed · Agritech · Wörthsee, Germany
Wörthsee-based Finches, which builds sourcing intelligence for food producers, has raised €2m in pre-seed funding in a round led by High-Tech Gründerfonds, with Vanagon Ventures as co-lead. Bayern Kapital joined as a new investor, while UnternehmerTUM Funding for Innovators and a group of strategic industry and technology angels provided follow-on funding. The company will use the capital to accelerate product development and expand sales.
Finches combines a food company’s internal procurement data — including suppliers, cultivated acreage, contracts, recipes and specifications — with weather, satellite imagery, soil data, scientific information, local news and reports from agronomists. Its platform links those signals to the crops, origins and finished products that may be affected, then gives sourcing teams an alert while they can still change the plan.
The product sells decision time
Regional weather and commodity dashboards can show that a crop is under pressure, but buyers still have to work out which contracts and products carry the exposure. Finches’ commercial proposition is to perform that translation at supplier level. A field observation recorded by voice can become a structured report; the system combines it with external data and the buyer’s own specifications, while the evidence behind each alert remains available to the team.
That specificity determines whether an alert has economic value. If procurement sees a likely shortfall before the market prices it in, the team may still secure alternative volume. Quality can sample the affected plots first, while planning can identify the production lines and customer orders exposed. The potential return therefore comes from preserving cheaper options — buying earlier, narrowing a quality check or rescheduling production — rather than producing another risk score after the response window has closed.
Enterprise deployment is the next proof point
Finches Intelligence launched in September 2026. Tech.eu reports early customers including an unnamed organic baby-food manufacturer and a North American Fortune 500 food company; Finches says its platform is live with enterprise food manufacturers. Those claims indicate real deployments, but the customers are not identified and performance figures have not been disclosed.
The company was founded in 2025 after 120 interviews about sourcing decisions. Its founding team combines Catharina van Delden’s experience building and selling innovation-software company innosabi, Stefanie Glenn’s data and engineering leadership at Google, Palantir and BMW, and Alexandra Vázquez Bea’s finance and operations work at Oetker Digital and Veganz. The financing gives Finches more room to turn those early deployments into repeatable sales. The execution test is whether its alerts stay accurate across different crops, suppliers and data quality while fitting the procurement processes of large food manufacturers.
