$1.1m · Other round · Software · Berlin, Germany
Berlin-based Flocta has raised $1.1 million in a pre-seed round led by Atlantic. Founder Maximilian Lippert Velarde announced the backing on his 18th birthday, while Flocta says the round closed within two weeks of Atlantic first hearing the idea. Tech.eu records the financing as an Other-stage round, which maps to EUVC's approved Other round label.
The cost layer beneath AI adoption
Flocta is building a software layer intended to reduce what companies spend on large language models. Rather than asking a business to replace its existing assistant or product stack, the company says its system can route each request to a suitable lower-cost model, compress prompts and cache reusable context. Flocta markets both a web app for teams and an API-oriented layer for AI-enabled products, claiming savings of up to 35% while maintaining required output quality.
The commercial pitch targets a growing operating problem: model capability may improve quickly, but usage-based inference costs rise with every token, retry and long context window. Flocta's approach is to make that cost visible at task level, then use routing and context reduction to lower it. Customers can also bring existing provider keys, according to the company, which would let the layer sit alongside subscriptions rather than force a wholesale switch.
Its deployment proposition is explicitly European. Flocta says accounts, chats and files are hosted in France, with open-weight models served on French infrastructure, while private deployments can run inside a customer's own cloud. The company's model register lists the open-weight systems it currently supports and their licences. Flocta also says it can connect company knowledge from tools such as Google Drive, Salesforce and SharePoint, but access is currently presented through demo and waitlist calls to action.
A very early test of measurable savings
This is an exceptionally early-stage bet: Flocta GmbH was registered in Berlin in September 2026, and the founder says the company began only weeks before the financing closed. Its savings and quality claims therefore remain company-stated rather than independently validated. Atlantic is backing a thesis that cost control can become a distinct layer in the AI stack, especially as businesses mix frontier subscriptions with cheaper open-weight models.
If Flocta can prove that routing and compression reduce spend without degrading results, it could address both sides of AI adoption: finance teams gain clearer unit economics, while employees and product teams get more usable capacity from the same budget. The execution test is measurement. Savings matter only if customers can verify task quality, latency and data handling across changing model combinations.
