SEK 6m · Other round · Defence, Hardware · Stockholm, Sweden
Freya Industries, a Stockholm company building connected sensors and software for physical security, has closed an oversubscribed SEK 6m funding round. Foundry Ventures, Longswan Ventures, Propel Capital, Saminvest via Annexstruktur, Schyssta Änglar, Sting and selected private investors participated. The company says the funding will help deliver customer orders, expand the team and roll out its products across Europe. Freya's systems include sensors designed to detect drones and locate their pilots, alongside acoustic detection and personal-protection products.
Software economics can widen access to physical security
High-end detection systems have traditionally been bought by governments and large infrastructure operators. Freya says it puts more of the intelligence in software and combines multiple detection methods with lower-cost sensors. If that design lowers the price of each deployment, security providers could protect more sites and workers instead of concentrating equipment at a few critical locations.
A distributed model only works if the alerts are dependable. Drone and acoustic detection systems operate in noisy environments, and false positives can quickly erode trust or create unnecessary response costs. Freya's European rollout will therefore test both its ability to manufacture and support hardware at scale and whether its analytics remain useful across different sites, threats and operating conditions.
