£400k · Other round · Edtech · Manchester, UK
Gaia Learning has raised £400k in a follow-on equity round from GC Angels, Nesta and a syndicate of angel investors. The Manchester edtech provides live online alternative education for neurodivergent children and other pupils who face barriers to mainstream schooling.
The new capital will support the rollout of Bloom, Gaia Learning’s SEND infrastructure platform. Bloom combines online teaching with tools that help schools and education providers deliver, track and evidence support for children with additional needs.
Bloom turns delivery data into school infrastructure
Gaia Learning was founded in 2019 and works with families, schools, multi-academy trusts and local authorities. Its company material describes structured, teacher-led provision designed to maintain academic progress while supporting reintegration and wellbeing. Bloom extends that service model into software for coordinating provision and recording engagement, progress and outcomes.
Growth Platform reports that Bloom is being piloted in Northern Ireland, with further school pilots planned. It also says Gaia Learning has grown to a 24-person business and recorded 94% revenue growth in the year after its first institutional round, while costs rose 22%. Those are company-supplied figures, but they indicate that the current raise is backing an operating platform rather than a pre-product concept.
Follow-on investors are underwriting a wider product bet
The financing follows a £550k seed round in 2024 led by Nesta Impact Investments alongside GC Angels. This time, the investors are backing Gaia Learning’s move from delivering specialist education directly to supplying infrastructure that other schools and providers can use.
That shift expands the addressable market, but it also raises the execution bar. Bloom must fit school workflows, produce evidence that staff and local authorities can trust, and convert pilots into recurring deployments without weakening Gaia Learning’s core education service. If the platform becomes embedded in how schools coordinate SEND support, the company can scale beyond the capacity limits of live provision alone.
