SEK 439k · Other round · Software · Stockholm, Sweden
Stockholm-based Gofrendly has raised SEK 439,000 in a share issue completed earlier this spring, according to Breakit. The transaction valued the new operating company, YoLuna AB, at SEK 21.1m including the fresh capital. The investors were not disclosed.
Gofrendly is a friendship app for women rather than a dating product. Its service matches members by interests, location and life stage, and also offers groups and activities designed to move online introductions into real-world friendships. The company says it has 350,000 members in Sweden, but it does not disclose active-user, retention or paying-subscriber figures.
A smaller company after the restart
The financing follows a reset of the business rather than an uninterrupted funding trajectory. Breakit reports that the predecessor company entered bankruptcy in summer 2024 after raising roughly SEK 45m since its 2016 launch. Co-founders Ulrika Lilja and Claudia Gård subsequently bought the assets from the bankruptcy estate and restarted the service through YoLuna AB.
The new company reported SEK 2.2m in net sales for 2025 and an operating loss of SEK 346,000, according to Breakit's review of company filings. That compares with SEK 964,000 of net sales and a SEK 73,000 operating profit during the shorter 2024 reporting period. The new entity has raised SEK 720,000 across several transactions, including the latest SEK 439,000 issue.
Paid participation puts retention at the centre
Gofrendly now lets people create a profile and browse for free, while messaging and participation in groups and activities require a paid membership, according to the company's current product information. That makes the restart's commercial test unusually concrete: the platform must turn a broad registered-member base into recurring paid participation without weakening the local density that makes friendship matching useful.
For a location-based social product, member count alone is an incomplete measure. The experience depends on whether enough relevant people are active in the same place and whether introductions lead to repeat conversations, events and retained subscriptions. The new capital is modest beside the predecessor's financing history, so evidence of engagement and conversion will matter more than rebuilding spend-led growth. Gofrendly has not publicly specified how it will use the proceeds, leaving product retention, paid conversion and city-level activity as the clearest milestones to watch.
