$166m · Other round · HRtech, Software · London, UK
London-based people-management software company HiBob has raised $166m in a new investment led by Salesforce, with Farallon Capital Management also participating. HiBob announced the transaction on 1 September, while Bloomberg reported that the round values the company at more than $3.2bn and that Salesforce supplied most of the capital.
HiBob's Bob platform joins HR, payroll and finance workflows around a workforce data record. The company says it serves more than 5,500 customers, and that organisations in more than 170 countries use the product. That reach gives HiBob a large base of information about roles, skills, reporting lines, compensation, goals and workforce plans, although the company does not disclose how much of that data is active in AI-enabled workflows.
Workforce context becomes the integration layer
HiBob is positioning that people data as organisational context for enterprise AI. Its argument is that an agent can make a generic recommendation from a model, but needs current information about capabilities, permissions, team structure and accountability to make the recommendation useful inside a specific company. HiBob says it is building an open, increasingly headless platform that can expose this context inside collaboration, CRM, finance and operational systems rather than confining it to the HR application.
The Salesforce relationship makes that distribution thesis concrete. HiBob says the investment builds on its growing Slack integration, which brings workforce information into the place where employees and managers already communicate. That creates a potential route for Bob to remain the system of record while Slack or another interface becomes the place where decisions are requested and acted on. The commercial test is whether HiBob can control and enrich that context when customers interact through other platforms, rather than becoming a background data source with weaker pricing power.
The round funds a broader platform wager
HiBob says the capital will accelerate product, technology, AI and innovation. CTech reports that the company may also use the funding for acquisitions and platform expansion. HiBob has already widened its product footprint by acquiring UK payroll automation platform Pento in 2024 and headcount-planning and FP&A company Mosaic in 2025, according to its company history.
Those additions matter because organisational intelligence depends on connecting people data to payroll, budgets and business planning. The round gives HiBob more capacity to assemble that stack, but integration quality will decide whether the result behaves like one trusted system or a collection of modules. Salesforce's backing is a strong distribution and strategic signal; the harder work is proving that HiBob's workforce context remains accurate, portable and valuable across the systems where AI-assisted decisions happen.
