€450k · Pre-Seed · Healthtech · Prague, Czech Republic
HTG Medical, the Prague medtech building automated monitoring for intensive-care units, has raised €450k in a pre-seed round. Garage Angels led the financing together with Electron Capital Partners; JIC Ventures joined, while existing investors Jinej fond and Dendis Capital also participated. The company will use the capital to enter international markets following European medical-device certification.
Turning a manual ICU task into a data stream
HTG Medical's first product, Urogram, automates urine-output measurement. In many intensive-care units, nurses still read drainage bags and record the result manually. Urogram measures every five minutes and sends the readings into the hospital information system, giving clinical teams a continuous record without changing the bag or adding a separate documentation step.
The company says the device has completed more than 4,000 hours of bedside testing and has been piloted in several Czech hospitals, including the cardiovascular ICU at IKEM in Prague. HTG reports 97% measurement accuracy and up to 60 minutes of nursing time saved per shift. Those figures are company-reported rather than independently benchmarked here, but they describe the operating case: fewer manual checks, fewer transcription errors and more frequent data for clinicians.
The product began with a problem raised by hospital staff and has since moved through hardware development, live testing and EU Medical Device Regulation certification. That sequence matters in medtech because a working prototype is only an early step. The device also has to fit clinical routines, integrate with hospital systems and pass the regulatory process before sales can scale.
Certification shifts the bottleneck to deployment
JIC Ventures says Urogram completed MDR certification in 15 months. HTG Medical has distributor relationships in place and is preparing to expand into Austria, Spain, France and the Netherlands, while using European certification to support registrations in markets including Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.
The fresh financing takes the company's total pre-seed funding above €1m. Investors also point to a recurring-revenue model, although the public announcement does not disclose pricing or contract terms. The commercial test is now whether HTG can make hospital adoption repeatable: procurement, system integration and clinical training must become a deployable package rather than a bespoke project for each ICU.
If that works, Urogram can be the first component in a broader ICU-automation platform. HTG says it plans additional devices that connect to hospital infrastructure. The €450k round therefore funds more than geographic expansion; it supports the transition from a certified product with Czech pilots to a repeatable international rollout.
