Amsterdam-based Huppa, which builds operating software for class-based gyms and studios, has raised €1m in Pre-Seed funding from NL SportTech Ventures and a group of entrepreneurs including founders of Sentia, Keylane, TicketSwap, Moneybird and Revue. The company says the capital will accelerate product development and team growth, with a target of serving at least 150 sports businesses in the Netherlands and Belgium by the end of 2027.
Turning gym administration into an operating layer
Huppa combines member management, class bookings, payments, financial reporting and workflow automation in one platform. Members can book classes, manage memberships and buy credits or products through a self-service app, while operators can connect services including Mollie, Urban Sports Club and ClassPass. The founders say the product grew from their own frustrations with software used by a kickboxing gym and a CrossFit box.
The commercial proposition is broader than replacing a booking calendar. Connecting attendance, membership and payment data can give an operator a clearer view of which subscriptions retain customers and which classes cover their costs. Huppa says it is building AI-driven tools around those signals, but the nearer-term value is simpler: reducing duplicate administration and making financial information available inside the system staff already use to run classes.
Huppa charges according to the number of active customers rather than selling separate feature modules. That links its revenue to the growth of each gym, while giving smaller operators access to the same functional bundle as larger sites. It also creates a demanding product test. Gyms, martial-arts schools and yoga or Pilates studios share recurring memberships, but their schedules, access controls and payment flows differ. Huppa will need to retain that operational depth as it expands across disciplines and multi-site businesses.
A focused Benelux rollout
Huppa’s website lists operators including CrossFit Amsterdam, BONI GYM, STOKED Community and Sportclub Velsen among businesses using the platform. The round gives the team room to turn those early deployments into a repeatable rollout across the Netherlands and Belgium before pursuing its broader European ambition.
That sequencing matters for vertical software. Integrations and local support can remove practical reasons for an operator to keep several disconnected systems, but expansion depends on onboarding businesses without losing the service and workflow fit that won the first customers. Reaching Huppa’s 150-business target would therefore test both product breadth and whether its per-active-customer pricing can scale with the operators it serves.
