£22.7m · Series B · Semiconductors · Stirling, UK
iGii, a Stirling advanced-materials company developing a scalable three-dimensional porous carbon material, has secured a £22.7m financing package. The package combines an £11.7m Series B led by the Scottish National Investment Bank, with PXN Ventures and Archangels, and £11m in Scottish Enterprise support. The funding will support commercialisation, manufacturing and team growth.
The full £22.7m is not pure equity: £11.7m is Series B investment and £11m is Scottish Enterprise support.
Materials adoption depends on manufacturing proof
Novel materials rarely win on laboratory performance alone. Industrial customers need repeatable production, integration into existing processes and evidence that improvements survive at commercial scale. iGii's porous carbon targets applications where surface area and conductivity matter, but qualification work will determine how quickly customers can move from trials to orders.
The blended package matches that path. Equity can fund the team and commercial programme, while public support helps absorb the cost of scale-up and manufacturing capability. For iGii, the key value inflection is not another material claim; it is proving consistent output and shortening customer qualification cycles across multiple industrial uses.
