€500k · Other round · Cleantech · Horw, Switzerland
IRISgo, a Horw company making reusable insulated cups with a patented one-handed iris closure, has secured a €500k financing deal from entrepreneur Andreas W. Herb. Contemporary reports describe the package as €250k in equity and €250k through a revenue-based loan. Founded by Fabian Christmann and Manuel Laurice Borer, IRISgo says it will work with Herb and his consumer-brand network to expand first across Germany, Austria and Switzerland, then into additional international markets. Its cups were already available through Swiss retailers and 278 Müller stores in Germany and Austria.
Distribution is the harder part of consumer hardware
IRISgo has already moved beyond a prototype: it manufactures in Switzerland, protects the closure mechanism with a patent and has placed products in several hundred stores. The next constraint is retail execution. Herb's MBG Group brings beverage-brand distribution and marketing relationships that may help the company win shelf space and build awareness without relying only on expensive direct-to-consumer acquisition.
The financing structure also puts sales performance close to the centre of the deal. A revenue-based loan can align repayments with turnover, but it still draws cash from a hardware business that must fund inventory and expansion. Store count alone will not prove the model. Sell-through, repeat purchases and healthy margins across the DACH rollout will show whether the patented closure can support a durable consumer brand.
