Heverlee-based IVEX has raised €5m in Series A funding to expand its automotive safety-testing technology. Existing investors The Faktory and Dedicated.lu backed the round alongside private investors. The company will use the capital to deepen its coverage of NCAP protocols, scale its data-processing platform and build a presence in North America and Asia.
IVEX targets a labour-intensive step in testing advanced driver-assistance and autonomous-driving systems. Engineers must align camera, sensor and vehicle data with road conditions and the information shown to a driver, then judge whether the vehicle responded as a safety protocol requires. IVEX says its platform uses computer vision, AI and cloud processing to automate much of that comparison while keeping engineers in the loop for review and final assessment.
In one company-reported example, the platform processed 400 hours of multi-sensor driving data with eight hours of engineering work, cutting analysis time by more than 95%. IVEX also says its technology has supported on-road campaigns in more than 20 countries, accumulated more than 100,000 kilometres of driving data and worked with data from more than 50 vehicle models. The company is a technology supplier to Euro NCAP.
Safety evidence is the commercial product
The value proposition is not simply faster AI analysis. Regulators, testing bodies and carmakers need repeatable evidence that driver-assistance functions behave correctly across changing roads, signs and traffic conditions. By tracing automated findings back to the original data and retaining human approval, IVEX is packaging analysis speed together with the auditability needed in a safety-critical workflow.
That creates a practical route to expansion, but not an automatic one. Euro NCAP gives IVEX a credible European reference, while North American and Asian customers will bring different protocols, data environments and procurement paths. The Series A therefore funds both product breadth and market adaptation: more protocol coverage and processing capacity only become valuable if local testing organisations and manufacturers accept the resulting evidence in their own assessment processes.
Founded in 2018 as a KU Leuven spin-out, IVEX says it holds six patents and is ISO 27001 certified. Its website also describes deployments with Einride and a road-infrastructure project involving Royal HaskoningDHV and the Province of Zuid-Holland, showing how the same underlying data-analysis tools can support vehicle development as well as real-world road-safety studies.
