$4m · Other round · Cybersecurity · Munich, Germany
Munich-based Kontext has raised $4m in financing led by 42CAP, with a16z CSX and High-Tech Gründerfonds also participating. The company builds runtime security software that checks what AI agents are allowed to do before their actions execute, according to HTGF.
The funding will support engineering hires and continued development of Kontext's enforcement platform. The product evaluates an agent's identity, assigned task, requested action, target resource and security policy, then allows or denies the action and records the decision for audit.
Authentication is not enough for autonomous software
Traditional identity systems answer whether a user or service has access to a resource. An AI agent can still be correctly authenticated and use an approved tool while taking an action outside the task it was given. Kontext targets that gap by making authorisation conditional on the immediate action and its context.
That approach can turn agent governance from a retrospective log review into a control point. Kontext lets teams first observe how policies would apply before switching on enforcement, which may reduce the risk of blocking legitimate work. The commercial test is whether it integrates across existing tools and credentials without becoming another fragmented policy layer.
