$550m · Series D+ · Legaltech · Stockholm, Sweden
Legal AI company Legora has raised a $550m Series E at an $8.8bn post-money valuation. Atreides Management led the round, joined by new investors Baron Capital, Capital Group, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Glade Brook Capital Partners and J.P. Morgan, while a broad group of existing backers also participated.
From legal assistant to operating system
Founded in 2023, Legora builds what it calls an agentic operating system for legal work. Its platform brings research, document review, drafting and multi-step workflows into one environment for law firms and in-house teams. Newer products extend that system into intake, horizon scanning and legal research, shifting the proposition from a point assistant towards software that can coordinate larger pieces of legal work.
The financing follows an unusually compressed growth curve. According to the company, annual recurring revenue rose from $1m to $100m in under 18 months, then passed $200m less than six months later. Legora reports more than 140,000 legal professionals across over 2,400 law firms and in-house teams in more than 80 markets. It also says in-house teams accounted for more than 40% of new customers in the third quarter, while more than half of the AmLaw 50 use the platform.
Those company-reported figures illustrate the commercial mechanism behind the round. Legal software has to earn trust around confidential data and fit into established research, drafting and document systems. Legora is betting that once its platform is embedded across those workflows, customers will expand usage across teams and matters rather than treat AI as a standalone experiment. Its stated security posture, including ISO 27001 and SOC 2 controls, is part of that enterprise sales argument.
Expansion raises the execution bar
The new capital will fund continued expansion in North America and other international markets, alongside further investment in the Legora aOS. The US is already the company's largest market by revenue, despite its first American office opening only in spring 2025. Legora now lists offices across New York, Denver, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, Toronto and Mexico City, in addition to its European and Asia-Pacific footprint.
Atreides managing partner Gavin Baker framed the investment around adoption that expands across organisations and a business that has combined rapid growth with operating discipline. The next test is whether Legora can translate that momentum into durable retention and margins while broadening from law firms into in-house legal departments. The $8.8bn valuation, up from $5.6bn at the previous round, raises the execution bar alongside the company's reach.
