Mama Insurance, a Bologna-based digital insurance platform, has closed an undisclosed investment round led by Fastweb+Vodafone, with Founders Factory and Vento also participating. The company says the new capital will support expansion beyond home insurance into additional personal lines and products for Italian SMEs.
Public coverage says the transaction follows a 2025 investment and brings Mama Insurance's cumulative financing to more than €2m across equity, non-dilutive public funding and bank debt. That mixed cumulative total is not the amount of this round.
Distribution can be as important as the insurance interface
Mama Insurance sells modular home cover online and distributes policies underwritten by Chubb. Fastweb+Vodafone is both the lead investor and the corporate partner behind the NeXXt Ventures programme in which the company was developed. That relationship could give Mama Insurance a route to customers and data-informed digital journeys that a standalone insurance startup would have to build from scratch.
Expanding into more personal and SME lines will test whether that advantage travels beyond home cover. Each product brings different risk questions, underwriting partners and servicing requirements, while customers still expect a simple purchase experience. Mama Insurance's commercial edge will depend on keeping the front end clear while coordinating a broader set of insurance products behind it.
