€6m · Seed · Fintech · Berlin, Germany
Berlin-based mika has raised €6m in seed funding led by Smedvig Ventures. Wecken & Cie. joined alongside operator angels including Dennis Bemmann, Michael Brehm, Johannes Ditterich and Martina Pfeifer, while existing investors Keen Venture Partners and Dutch Founders Fund increased their stakes.
Mika is building an AI-native financial operating system for German GmbHs and UGs, covering bookkeeping, VAT returns, annual accounts and tax filings. Its own general ledger reads receipts and payments, categorises transactions and explains entries, with in-house accountants reviewing output and licensed advisers handling individual tax advice. The financing will support growth and further development of the AI system.
Software economics meet regulated review
Germany's accounting and tax rules create a large recurring workload for small companies, but the regulated nature of the work limits how far judgement can be removed. Mika's model uses automation for repetitive processing while retaining qualified human review where complexity or advice requires it.
The company reports more than 750 customers, monthly revenue growth above 20 per cent and annual revenue above €1m in July. The key scaling measure is whether automation lets each accountant oversee more clients without reducing accuracy, because review capacity will shape whether mika behaves like software or a faster service firm.
