$5m · Other round · Semiconductors · London, UK
London-based MintNeuro has raised a $5m investment round to move its purpose-built chips for neural devices from technical validation towards commercial scale. Odyssey Ventures led the financing, with 33East, JSK Investments and Alumni Ventures participating, while Empirical Ventures, Jumpspace Ventures and other early investors returned.
The Imperial College London spinout develops integrated circuits for devices that connect with the brain and nervous system, from implants to wearables. Its modular platform covers neural-signal acquisition, electrical stimulation, on-chip processing, power management and wireless data transfer. The proposition is to give device makers reusable building blocks designed around the size, power, safety and signal-quality constraints of neural systems, rather than forcing each company to adapt general-purpose components or fund a custom chip programme.
Customer integration is the commercial test
MintNeuro says it has delivered working silicon and reached integration milestones with Motif Neurotech and Amber Therapeutics. The most concrete commercial evidence is its multi-year supply agreement with Motif. That collaboration progressed from system architecture into hardware validation, and MintNeuro’s sensing chip has been integrated into devices used in Motif’s preclinical work. Successive chip generations are intended to align with Motif’s development programme for a minimally invasive neurostimulator initially targeting treatment-resistant depression.
That design-in model matters because MintNeuro is trying to become infrastructure for multiple neural-device companies, not the developer of a single therapy. A reusable component platform can spread semiconductor development across several customer programmes, but medical-hardware adoption is demanding: customers must validate the chip inside their own system, and product timelines remain tied to clinical and regulatory progress. The round therefore backs both product launches and the engineering support needed to turn evaluations into durable supply relationships.
From spinout to product platform
MintNeuro emerged from Imperial’s Next Generation Neural Interfaces Lab and was started in 2022. Imperial says the company raised £1m in 2024, including Imperial College Enterprise Fund backing and the conversion of a MedTech SuperConnector Seed Fund loan note.
The new capital will support engineering and commercial hiring, more pre-release silicon deliveries, customer adoption and expansion in the US. The next useful milestones are broader named customer programmes and evidence that working chips can progress from evaluation kits and preclinical integrations into repeatable commercial supply.
