€40m+ · Series B · Deeptech · Veldhoven, Netherlands
Morphotonics, a Veldhoven-based maker of large-area nanoimprint lithography systems, has closed an extended Series B of more than €40m. The financing was assembled in tranches from 2024. Existing investors 3M Ventures, Innovation Industries and BOM returned, while Invest-NL joined as a major new investor; the European Innovation Council Fund, Dutch family office Ernij Next and the European Investment Bank also participated. Morphotonics says the capital will expand production capacity for its Cypris platform, product development, hiring, suppliers and after-sales support.
The round combines equity with a €20m EIB convertible loan and a €5m investment from Invest-NL. The headline is the completed size of an extended financing process, not more than €40m of entirely new equity raised this week.
Process transfer turns equipment into a deeper customer relationship
Morphotonics presses micro- and nanoscale patterns into resin across large surfaces so manufacturers can produce waveguides for AI glasses at higher volumes. CEO Hugo da Silva told TechCrunch that customers buy the equipment and integrate the company’s process, chemicals and production know-how. That makes each deployment more involved than a conventional machine sale, but it can also deepen the supplier relationship.
The company has 10 to 15 systems deployed and aims for 50 within two to three years, TechCrunch reported. Its next machine is designed to produce more than six million waveguides annually. Scaling the installed base therefore depends on more than factory output: Morphotonics must help customers qualify the process and support equipment across several regions before services can become a larger revenue stream.
