Oslo-based Neonomics has secured $4m in new funding from existing shareholders after a strategic refocus that the company says cut its operating cost base by almost half. The open-finance provider says the investment will support further growth across payments and financial data.
Neonomics reports more than 60% growth in new customer acquisition since the start of 2026 while retaining its existing customer base and service quality. It sees the strongest opportunities in consumer financial services, personal finance, accounting, enterprise resource planning and other products built around financial data.
Moving beyond access to financial intelligence
Neonomics connects businesses to banks for account data, verification and account-to-account payments. The company is licensed by Norway’s financial regulator and passported across the EU. Its platform gives customers a common infrastructure layer for initiating payments and using permissioned financial data in their own products.
The strategic shift is to capture more value after the initial bank connection. Basic access to account data is becoming more widely available, so Neonomics is expanding into structuring, enriching and interpreting that information. For an accounting platform or personal-finance product, the commercial value is not merely retrieving transactions; it is turning them into categories, checks or signals that improve a workflow or decision.
That approach could deepen customer relationships because payment activity and data intelligence can sit inside the same integration. It also raises the product bar: enriched outputs have to be reliable enough for financial workflows, and the company must preserve regulatory and service standards while operating with a leaner cost base.
Existing shareholders are backing the reset
The round does not introduce a disclosed new lead investor. Instead, current shareholders are supplying fresh capital after the restructuring. That makes the financing partly a test of execution against the company’s new cost structure and commercial focus.
Chief executive Alfonso Muñoz said the combination of lower costs, growing demand and continued shareholder support puts Neonomics in a stronger position to pursue its strategy. The next useful evidence will be whether customer acquisition translates into durable usage across both payments and data products, and whether the company can grow without rebuilding the expense base it has just reduced.
