Nous has closed a €2.315m Seed round led by dsm-firmenich Ventures, with participation from FoodSeed and investors connected to CDP Venture Capital’s accelerator network. The transaction counsel note confirms the investment in the Italian ingredient company.
Building evidence around Koncentra
Nous develops functional ingredients for food, beverage and nutraceutical products. Its lead product, Koncentra, is a botanical ingredient positioned for energy and wellness applications. The company’s task is not simply to supply another plant extract; it needs to show manufacturers that the ingredient has consistent composition, a credible evidence base and performance that can be translated into consumer products.
The round will fund further clinical studies and scientific substantiation. That work is central to the product’s commercial value. Ingredient customers need evidence that can support formulation decisions and compliant claims, while consumers and regulators increasingly scrutinise products that promise energy or cognitive benefits.
Nous is also expanding its supply chain across Europe and Asia. For a botanical ingredient, scaling means controlling raw-material quality, processing and batch consistency across suppliers. Those operating systems will determine whether early customer interest can become dependable industrial volume.
Preparing for international launch
The company plans to begin entering the US market in November 2026. The funding gives Nous time to prepare production, commercial partnerships and scientific material for that launch. It is targeting at least three published clinical studies and annual capacity of at least 60 tonnes of Koncentra by the end of 2027, according to funding coverage.
dsm-firmenich Ventures brings strategic knowledge in ingredients and consumer products, while FoodSeed and Accelera Ventures connect Nous to Italy’s foodtech accelerator ecosystem. The investor mix can help with industry validation, but it also makes execution milestones visible: clinical results, qualified supply and commercial adoption need to progress together.
The Seed round therefore finances a transition from product development to an evidence-backed ingredient business. The next test is whether Nous can convert Koncentra’s botanical proposition into repeat orders from manufacturers in more than one market without compromising consistency or substantiation.
