€570k · Pre-Seed · Agritech · Hürth, Germany
NUNOS, a Hürth-based agritech spinout from the German Aerospace Center, has raised €570k in pre-seed financing. NRW.BANK invested €300k through NRW.SeedCap, while German business angels supplied the remaining €270k. The company will prepare its market entry, expand marketing and sales, and continue field testing.
NUNOS develops farm-installed systems that biologically process cattle slurry and biogas digestate into a low-odour liquid fertiliser with nutrients in plant-available form. It plans two additional farm pilots in 2026, further crop trials in 2027 and its first system sales that year.
Space research moves into farm infrastructure
The underlying process originated in work on nutrient recovery for closed environments, where waste streams must be reused rather than discarded. NUNOS is adapting that logic to farms: treat manure and digestate at source, stabilise nutrients and turn an operational waste burden into a more usable fertiliser input.
Commercialisation depends on more than the chemistry. Each installation must fit existing farm storage and workflows, operate consistently with variable feedstock and justify its cost through fertiliser value and avoided handling or emissions. The new pilots are therefore sales infrastructure as much as technical validation: they can show whether the system performs reliably under farm conditions.
