$312m · Series B · Semiconductors · London, UK
OLIX, a London company building rack-scale infrastructure for frontier AI inference, has raised $312m in Series B financing at a $3.3bn valuation. The round included Fundomo, Arm and Hudson River Trading, alongside angels including Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings, while existing investors Hummingbird Ventures, Crane, Plural, Creandum, Phoenix Court and Transition increased their commitments. OLIX said the capital will fund its path to delivering the first DX-1 systems to customers in the second half of 2027, alongside manufacturing and supply-chain commitments.
A rack-scale bet on specialised inference
OLIX is designing the X-1 platform around a different way of dividing inference work. Rather than asking one general-purpose accelerator to handle every step of token generation, the company proposes to spread a model across many flexible chips so each chip can focus on one part of the workload. A deterministic compiler schedules that work, while an optical interconnect moves data between chips. The first component, DX-1, is a decode accelerator that stores the model in on-chip SRAM and is designed to avoid high-bandwidth memory and advanced packaging.
That architecture turns OLIX's commercial proposition into a systems-delivery challenge, not only a chip-design challenge. Customers would buy complete racks whose performance depends on silicon, photonics, networking and compiler software working together. Avoiding scarce packaging and memory components could make production easier to scale, but the company's performance figures remain internal claims rather than independent benchmarks. The next proof point is therefore a functioning rack in a customer environment, where throughput, power use and software compatibility can be tested together.
Capital for the path to first racks
The round follows OLIX's $220m financing in February 2026. The UK government's Sovereign AI venture fund also invested, framing the company as part of a push to keep more strategic compute capability in Britain. OLIX has added networking pioneer Nick McKeown to its board and former Wise CFO Matt Briers as chief financial officer. Those appointments bring systems and scaling experience, but the timetable remains demanding: OLIX is still hiring across silicon, photonics, compiler and systems engineering while preparing DX-1 for first customer delivery in H2 2027.
