SEK 2m · Other round · AI · Malmö, Sweden
Malmö-based Proofbacked has emerged from stealth with a SEK 2m angel round. Skåne Ventures, Saminvest, Martin Rugfelt, Martin Althen and a group of angel investors backed the compliance software company as it starts to grow its team.
Compliance needs evidence, not only completed tasks
Supplier questionnaires, certificates and policy checks are often spread across spreadsheets, inboxes and specialist systems. That creates a traceability problem when an auditor or customer asks who approved a supplier, what evidence they reviewed and why the decision was made.
Proofbacked uses AI to collect and process compliance work while keeping a named person responsible for each decision. The platform covers customer and supplier workflows under frameworks including NIS2, DORA and ISO 27001, and is designed to retain the decision trail rather than present automation as the accountable actor.
Human sign-off is the product constraint
The approach fits a broader shift in regulated software: automation can reduce repetitive evidence gathering, but responsibility still sits with a company and its officers. Proofbacked’s commercial proposition therefore depends on making review faster without turning human approval into a ceremonial click.
The founding team of Leon Eckervall, Jarkko Rautula and Christer Hernestig brings experience from Tietoevry, H&M, Hedvig, Defentry and Inriver. The initial round is modest, so the near-term proof points are product adoption, the quality of generated evidence and whether customers can show auditors that every recommendation and approval remains understandable after the underlying documents change.
