$5m · Other round · AI · London, UK
Querio, a platform that gives data teams and AI agents a shared analytics layer, has raised $5m in funding, with investment from BMW i Ventures, LAUNCH, Haatch Ventures, Araya, Forum Ventures and Secways. The company announced the financing alongside the launch of its product, which is available now.
When AI asks the question, definitions become infrastructure
Querio is built around a simple problem: employees can ask the same business question in a dashboard, Slack or an AI assistant and receive different answers because each tool relies on different definitions and context. The company stores metrics, business rules, permissions, notebooks and dashboards as files in a GitHub repository controlled by the customer. Data teams can review changes through their existing version-control workflow, while tools such as Claude, Cursor and other agents use the same context.
That architecture turns the semantic layer from a feature inside one analytics vendor into infrastructure that can be reused across interfaces. Querio says customers can work through its notebooks and dashboards or connect through Slack, an API, CLI and MCP. Its open-source unshackle migration tool is intended to move metrics, dashboards and permissions from products including Tableau, Looker and Power BI into open files, reducing the cost of trying the platform and the risk of locking business logic into another proprietary system.
The commercial test is whether shared context makes AI-generated analysis dependable enough for routine business use. A repository creates a reviewable record of how definitions change, but enterprise customers still need governed access to the underlying data. Querio says queries run against a database user controlled by the customer, with role-based permissions and audit controls, and that model providers are not allowed to train on customer data. Those controls matter because the product's value depends on widening access to analysis without widening access to sensitive records.
A launch as much as a funding round
Querio says all five product areas—context, developer tools, notebooks, dashboards and embedded analytics—were live at launch, names OpenVPN and agree.com among current users, and says it is hiring. The execution challenge is now distribution: persuading data teams that putting analytics logic in repositories they already govern is a better control point than keeping that logic inside each dashboard or AI interface.
