Queue-it has entered a definitive agreement for an undisclosed majority investment from THL Partners. The US private-equity firm is investing through its Automation Fund II, while GRO Capital is the selling shareholder. The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals.
Managing demand without rebuilding for the peak
Founded in Denmark in 2010, Queue-it provides online traffic-orchestration software for enterprises and public organisations. Its virtual waiting room moves excess visitors away from a customer’s website or app during demand spikes, then releases them at a rate the underlying system can handle. The platform also helps customers manage bots and abuse, communicate wait information and apply access rules across ticketing, retail, government and financial services.
That product turns an awkward infrastructure problem into a managed operating decision. Building every system for the largest possible product launch, ticket sale or registration window can leave expensive capacity idle most of the year. Queue-it instead lets a customer set the rate its application can safely process, while keeping the overflow in a branded queue. The commercial proposition therefore combines uptime protection with allocation: maintaining the site is only part of the job when scarce tickets, products or appointments must also be distributed in a way users regard as fair.
Queue-it’s customer material shows how that mechanism can affect outcomes. Sky Mobile says its 2024 iPhone launch produced a 37% year-on-year improvement in conversion while reducing the time its waiting room was active by 66%. In another deployment, Harvey Nichols reported offloading as many as 8,000 concurrent shoppers during flash-sale demand. These are company-hosted case studies rather than independently audited metrics, but they illustrate why peak-traffic management can sit close to revenue and customer trust rather than functioning only as technical insurance.
A new owner for the next traffic cycle
THL says the partnership will support product innovation and international expansion. It also points to AI-driven activity as a force changing the nature and volume of online traffic. For Queue-it, that creates both an opportunity and a product test: automated traffic can increase demand for orchestration and bot controls, while customers will expect the platform to distinguish legitimate users from abusive automation without making high-demand access more frustrating.
GRO Capital acquired Queue-it in 2020 and is now selling its stake as part of the new agreement. THL’s investment gives the Copenhagen company another owner focused on scaling software businesses, but the operational measure will be whether Queue-it can extend its orchestration layer across more customer systems without losing the reliability and transparent access that make the product valuable during the moments when demand is hardest to predict.
