€50m · Series B · Energy · Hamburg, Germany
Hamburg-based Rabot Energy has closed a €50m Series B led by Endeit, with the DeepTech & Climate Fonds joining as a new investor. Existing backers HV Capital, High-Tech Gründerfonds, Bosch Ventures, CNI, Acurio Ventures and vent.io also participated.
The company will use the capital to expand its residential, commercial and industrial offering in Germany, develop its technology platform and connect more flexible devices, including home batteries, electric-vehicle chargers and heat pumps. Rabot says it has more than 200,000 customers, including around 15,000 commercial and industrial customers, and has grown revenue to €200m.
Turning household devices into flexible grid capacity
Rabot sells dynamic electricity tariffs that track wholesale-market conditions. Its wider platform coordinates when connected devices consume or store electricity. A household battery can charge when renewable power is abundant and prices are lower, then discharge or reduce grid demand when electricity is scarcer.
The commercial mechanism extends beyond selling electricity. By linking many batteries and other devices, Rabot aims to aggregate small sources of flexibility into a virtual power plant. That can give customers lower-cost timing while creating a controllable resource that helps balance a system with more variable renewable generation.
The platform has to coordinate different devices without making energy use cumbersome for households. More connections increase potential flexibility, but they also raise integration and reliability requirements. Rabot’s advantage will depend on whether its software can automate those decisions while customers retain a simple tariff and device experience.
A profitable core funds a larger network ambition
Endeit partner Sara Resvik said Rabot has built a profitable core business and the technology to manage electricity demand at scale. The investor’s thesis is that flexibility is becoming as important as adding renewable generation because power demand and supply increasingly need to move together.
Rabot is targeting one million customers. The Series B gives it capital to expand the network, but the more meaningful milestone will be the share of connected batteries, chargers and heat pumps that can be coordinated when the grid needs flexibility. Customer growth alone expands the addressable base; active device participation determines whether the virtual power plant becomes useful infrastructure.
