Manchester sports-technology company Rezzil has raised a $10m strategic growth round to expand its “Movement Intelligence” products globally. New strategic investors include Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jobe Bellingham and putting coach Phil Kenyon, while the Premier League and Simba Investments continued their backing. Rezzil said the capital will support international expansion, product development and a larger team.
Movement data is becoming a product layer
Rezzil began with virtual-reality training for professional football, but now applies movement data across athlete performance, broadcast analysis, fan experiences and gaming. Its technology regularly supports analysis and storytelling on Match of the Day, while the company’s site lists relationships spanning broadcasters, teams, leagues and sports brands.
That breadth gives Rezzil more than one route to market. A movement model built for training can inform a broadcast visualisation or an immersive fan product, allowing the underlying data and simulation work to support several customer groups. The commercial opportunity is to turn those shared capabilities into repeatable products rather than treating every league, broadcaster or athlete partnership as a separate project.
The investor mix is useful in that context. League and athlete backers can contribute domain knowledge, credibility and access to specific audiences. Bellingham’s investment is also part of a broader family partnership under which Rezzil will support future digital initiatives. Those relationships can shorten the route to design partners and distribution, but celebrity participation is not evidence of product demand on its own.
Expansion tests whether partnerships can scale
Rezzil has opened offices in London and Chicago and expects to roughly double its global workforce to about 100 over the next 12 months. Former Hawk-Eye and NBA executive Jake Loos has been appointed to lead North American expansion. The company is also investing in mobile consumer experiences alongside its professional-sport and broadcast tools.
The expansion therefore tests two forms of scale at once: geographic sales growth and reuse of the same movement-intelligence layer across performance, media and consumer products. If Rezzil can standardise those capabilities while preserving the sport-specific detail customers need, one data foundation can support several revenue lines. If each partnership remains highly bespoke, the larger headcount may increase delivery capacity without producing the same operating leverage.
