Gaziantep-based Rotatelab has raised an undisclosed seed round co-led by Arcadia Gaming Partners and Laton Ventures, with Loop Games founder and angel investor Mert Gür participating. The studio's dated announcement says the capital will support product development and broader scaling as it builds mobile puzzle games for global audiences.
Founded in 2020 by Abdurrahman Koçak, Salih Koçak and Yunus Becit, Rotatelab works with a remote-first team of 21 people across 15 Turkish cities. The company says Cube Land passed two million downloads within four months of launch and entered the top 50 free-games and top 80 top-grossing charts in the US App Store. Its earlier self-published title Sort Land has exceeded 2.5 million downloads, while the team's games have accumulated more than 17 million installs.
From publisher dependence to owning the growth loop
Rotatelab shifted from working with publishers to self-publishing in 2024. That change gives the studio control of its intellectual property, player data and commercial relationship with app-store users, but it also moves more distribution risk onto the company. Product development alone is not enough: each title must produce retention and monetisation signals strong enough to justify spending on user acquisition.
The seed round can reinforce both sides of that loop. Rotatelab says it has built internal AI systems for market analysis, playable prototyping, production workflows and marketing automation. Used well, those tools can shorten the distance between an idea and evidence from real players; the economic value comes only when the studio can use that evidence to stop weak concepts and concentrate capital behind titles that retain and monetise.
Cube Land and Sort Land give the investors two visible tests rather than a single launch. The next question is whether Rotatelab's self-publishing system can reproduce those outcomes across a broader portfolio. Laton Ventures cited the team's resilience and repeated execution, while Arcadia highlighted its unconventional distributed organisation and Cube Land's momentum.
A distributed studio from southeast Türkiye
Rotatelab is headquartered at Gaziantep University Technopark rather than in Türkiye's largest gaming hubs. Its remote-first structure expands the hiring pool across the country, but makes production systems and communication part of the operating advantage the round must help preserve. The funding therefore backs more than another puzzle title: it backs whether a distributed studio can repeatedly move from prototype to global distribution while keeping product and player economics in-house.
