€2.2m · Other round · Software · Joensuu, Finland
SeeTrue Technologies, a Joensuu-based developer of compact eye-tracking systems for wearables and optical equipment, has closed a €2.2m financing round led by ZEISS Ventures. The company said Superhero Capital, North Karelia Growth Fund, Luminate, Piotr Frasunkiewicz and its founding angels also participated. The capital will support commercialisation of SeeTrue’s low-power sensing architecture, expansion of its Joensuu team and international commercial work.
Eye tracking has to disappear into the product
SeeTrue combines miniature sensing hardware with embedded processing to track where a user is looking without pushing all computation to a host device. Its product range covers wearable, embedded and ocular systems for smart glasses, research, healthcare and industrial equipment. The company says its ST ONE Light processes gaze data on-device at 100 frames per second, while its broader architecture is designed to reduce power consumption and hardware footprint.
For device makers, that integration burden is the commercial problem. An accurate tracker is not useful if it consumes too much battery, adds visible hardware or demands a more powerful processor elsewhere in the product. SeeTrue’s system-level approach aims to make eye tracking a component that manufacturers can design into constrained devices rather than bolt on later. That can widen the set of viable applications, but it also means commercial progress depends on technical qualification and customer design-ins, not simply selling more standalone trackers.
Why ZEISS matters beyond the cheque
ZEISS brings direct experience in optics, vision systems and product development. Its investment announcement says the venture arm can connect portfolio companies with technical expertise and a global network. For SeeTrue, that makes the lead investor potentially relevant to both product integration and market access, though the round does not itself prove a customer contract or production design win. The near-term test is whether the new capital and investor network turn the company’s sensing architecture into repeatable integrations across smart eyewear, healthcare optics and industrial systems.
SeeTrue was founded in 2018 and announced €460k of new funding in 2022 to expand its eye-tracking business and sales. The new round is a larger commercialisation step: it adds an optics-focused corporate lead while returning backers North Karelia Growth Fund and the founding angels continue to support the company.
