CHF1.5m · Seed · Cleantech · Sarnen, Switzerland
Sarnen-based SensorX Solutions has secured CHF1.5m in seed financing to scale its methane-monitoring technology internationally. The package combines a loan backed by a guarantee from the Swiss Technology Fund and the Federal Office for the Environment with equity from private investors and the founding team.
The company has not disclosed the debt/equity split. SensorX says the capital will expand production, engineering and delivery capacity, support larger customer deployments, continue product development and grow its international customer and partner network.
One platform has to work across several inspection modes
SensorX builds laser-based gas-sensing hardware and software for energy and infrastructure operators. Its FluX platform combines methane detection, emissions quantification, field workflows and digital reporting across walking, vehicle, drone and continuously installed measurement configurations.
That breadth addresses a practical problem: an operator may need to survey a network from a vehicle, inspect a hard-to-reach site with a drone and keep continuous watch over selected equipment. Using one product family and reporting layer can make those measurements easier to compare and move into an audit trail. The value is not simply finding a gas signal; it is turning a field reading into a location, quantity and workflow that a customer can verify and act on.
The company says it has moved from research and development into commercial deployments with more than 15 customers and technology partners. Dealroom reporting names Swissgas, Transitgas and E.ON, and says SensorX has won initial customers in Canada and the US. Those deployments create evidence for international demand, but each new geography also adds delivery, calibration and support work.
Mixed financing puts production and delivery at the centre
The Technology Fund guarantee is designed to make debt available to climate technologies, while the equity component brings capital from private investors and the founding team. For SensorX, that mix places the emphasis on converting capital into sellable systems and completed deployments rather than funding research alone.
SensorX says the guarantee gives it financial flexibility to expand production, strengthen delivery and support larger customer projects. That is the key execution test. A multi-configuration platform can reuse sensing and reporting technology across use cases, but the company still has to manufacture hardware consistently and make field deployments repeatable. Growth will depend on whether production and service capacity scale without each installation becoming a bespoke engineering project.
