$6m · Series B · Robotics · Stuttgart, Germany
Stuttgart-based Sereact has added Zalando as a strategic investor in its ongoing Series B, taking the disclosed round total from $110m to $116m. Sereact announced the extension on 20 July 2026 and said the wider round will scale Cortex 2.0, its robotic control model, and support international expansion. The company did not state Zalando’s cheque directly; the $6m event amount is the difference between the two disclosed round totals and matches Tech.eu’s original-currency record.
A strategic investor can supply more than capital
Sereact describes Cortex as a hardware-independent “brain” for warehouse and manufacturing robots. It runs across single-arm picking cells, dual-arm returns stations and humanoid robots, while the planned Cortex 2.0 combines a vision-language-action model with a world model that scores possible movements for stability, risk and efficiency before a robot acts.
The company said in July that more than 200 Sereact systems were live across Europe and that Cortex had completed over one billion production picks. Those are company-reported figures, but they explain the commercial logic behind the Zalando relationship: a large fulfilment operator can contribute demanding workflows and operational data as well as capital.
That logic moved into production after the funding announcement. In October, Sereact said dual-arm Cortex systems had entered live operations at CEVA Logistics sites in Greven, Germany, and Świebodzin, Poland, processing returned Zalando fashion items. The partners described this as the first phase of a broader European returns-automation initiative.
Returns are a useful test because garments arrive in changing shapes, orientations and packaging, making them harder to handle with rigid, item-specific automation. If one model can learn from these deployments and transfer improvements across different robot hardware and sites, Sereact can improve the software layer without manufacturing every machine itself. Zalando’s dual role as investor and operating partner connects the model to a high-variation use case and a potential distribution path through a major logistics network.
The public evidence still leaves the scale test open. The partners have not disclosed the number of robots, returns throughput, accuracy or contract value for the CEVA deployment. The next proof point is therefore not another model demonstration, but repeatable operating performance across more sites.
The extension follows a larger April round
Sereact originally announced the Series B at $110m in April 2026, led by Headline with Bullhound Capital, Daphni and Felix Capital joining, and Air Street Capital, Creandum and Point Nine returning. Zalando’s participation increased the round to $116m and took Sereact’s disclosed total funding above $145m. The company was founded in 2021 and states that it is headquartered in Stuttgart.
