Seven-figure facility · Other round · Software · Dundee, UK
Dundee-based Snappy Group has secured a seven-figure venture-debt facility from Virgin Money to invest across its retail technology products, meet growing enterprise demand and extend deployments with UK retailers. The amount was not disclosed beyond the seven-figure range. The company told BusinessCloud that annualised grocery gross merchandise value across its platform now exceeds £150m.
Beyond its consumer-facing Snappy Shopper marketplace, the group sells order-aggregation and white-label commerce software to retailers and operates a retail-media business. It says Co-op, SPAR and Musgrave have recently selected Snappy products as they expand rapid grocery delivery, while its wider customer base includes One Stop and Morrisons.
Turning local delivery into retailer infrastructure
Snappy's commercial shift is from operating a single marketplace to supplying the software layer behind several retailer channels. Order aggregation gives store staff one workflow for orders arriving from different delivery platforms, while white-label products let larger groups keep their own customer-facing brand. That combination can make each enterprise rollout broader than adding another shop to the marketplace: the same platform can sit behind ordering, fulfilment and retailer-owned customer experiences.
The £150m annualised GMV milestone is evidence of transaction scale, but it is not Snappy's revenue and should not be read as such. The new facility gives the company additional capital alongside earlier equity investment without announcing another ownership round. Because it is debt, expansion still has to produce cash flows that can service the facility; the useful test will be whether newly signed retailer relationships turn into live, repeatable store deployments.
Scaling through retail groups
Founded in 2017, Snappy Group now describes three core divisions: Snappy Shopper for marketplace and rapid delivery; Snappy Technologies for order aggregation and white-label systems; and Snappy Media for retail media, including Snappy Connect. The company says the Virgin Money facility will add headroom for UK growth and selected international opportunities.
Virgin Money's Andrew Stirrat said the lender had tracked Snappy for several years and cited the business's sustained growth. Companies House records an outstanding floating charge created in May 2026 in favour of Nationwide Building Society trading as Virgin Money, providing additional evidence of the lending relationship while not disclosing the facility's amount or detailed terms.
