Stafford-based Strolll has secured a £3.6m Innovate UK innovation loan and a separate £700k Growth Catalyst Investor Partnerships award, a public-funding package reported as €5m. EU-Startups reports that the package sits alongside a private investment round of more than £1m led by IW Capital, with Cleveland Clinic and Future Planet Capital Regional participating. The public and private components fund two distinct neurorehabilitation projects and should not be read as one €5m equity round.
Strolll builds augmented-reality therapy software that overlays cues, exercises and tasks onto the patient’s real surroundings. Clinicians can adjust motor, gait, balance and cognitive activities while remaining visible to the patient, and the same platform is designed for inpatient, outpatient and home rehabilitation.
Two funding instruments support two products
The £3.6m innovation loan will support StrolllAssessment, which combines AI-based neuromotor assessments with a biomechanics laboratory in Stafford. The company says running several validation studies in parallel could shorten a process that traditionally takes years. The claim still has to be demonstrated, but the financing is aimed at the expensive evidence-building work needed before automated assessments can become a repeatable clinical product.
The £700k award and more than £1m of private investment will fund StrolllAcute, a bedside-first version for bed-bound patients. IW Capital says the system is intended to start therapy earlier without changing ward workflows or increasing staff burden. That is a different commercial test: rather than validating a measurement tool, Strolll must show that clinicians can use the product in acute care without adding setup or supervision work.
Clinical workflow is the route to scale
Strolll’s product spans bedside, clinic and home, giving the company a potential relationship across more of a patient’s rehabilitation pathway. The platform can preserve familiar real-world movement and therapist interaction while adding digital prompts and tracking. If the same system works across care settings, providers may gain a consistent way to progress therapy rather than purchasing separate tools for each phase.
Deployment evidence is beginning to appear. IW Capital reported in September that Strolll’s technology was in use at Cleveland Clinic London for upper- and lower-limb neurorehabilitation. The new capital now has to turn those deployments into validated assessment pathways and repeatable acute-care adoption. For Strolll, the key milestone is not simply more headsets in hospitals, but evidence that the software improves engagement and progression while fitting the economics and staffing of routine therapy.
