€3.3m · Other round · HRtech · Milan, Italy
Talentware, a Milan-based skill-intelligence platform for employers, has raised €3.3m in a seed round led by CDP Venture Capital. Startupbusiness reports that 360 Capital, 035 Investimenti, New Gate, Cenciarini & Co. and a group of business angels also participated. The capital will support team growth, product development and expansion into additional European markets.
Turning skills into operating data
Talentware is built around a practical HR problem: companies hold large amounts of information about people, roles and work, but the skills inside that information are often difficult to compare or use. The company says its AI agents map technical, managerial and soft skills from unstructured company data and situational assessments. HR and business teams can then use those maps for internal mobility, workforce planning, succession and targeted upskilling.
The commercial proposition is broader than producing another employee profile. Talentware is trying to make skills a shared data layer for several high-value decisions: who can move into an open role, where a capability gap is emerging and which development plan fits a particular employee. That can make the platform more useful as more workflows rely on the same underlying map, but it also raises the standard of proof. Customers need the skills data to stay current and the resulting assessments to be credible enough to influence consequential people decisions.
According to Startupbusiness, Talentware had more than 45 active customers following its June 2024 commercial launch. It targets medium-sized and large organisations in knowledge-intensive and regulated sectors including financial services, energy, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, IT and public administration. The company also reported a 30-person team, with 65% working on product and AI.
Assessment has to fit the work
Co-founder Ismet Balihodzic argues that generic assessments miss the specific capabilities an employer needs. Talentware’s planned AI-based situational assessment is intended to create company-specific exercises and return structured, comparable evaluations for candidates and existing employees. The round gives the company room to develop that product while hiring across commercial, product and customer-success roles.
The execution question is whether Talentware can turn customisation into repeatable software rather than a services-heavy project for every customer. Its position in regulated and knowledge-intensive organisations could reward a product that fits existing HR decisions and data controls, while making validation, transparency and implementation especially important. The funding matters because those product and customer-success capabilities are part of the sale, not merely support around it.
