Stockholm-based TERASi, a KTH Royal Institute of Technology spinout building secure high-frequency wireless links, has raised an €11m seed round co-led by the NATO Innovation Fund and Join Capital. New investors In-Q-Tel and D3 participated alongside returning backers Navigare Ventures, Almi Invest, Onsight Ventures, Further Than Capital and KTH Ventures. The capital will support deployments with European armed forces, team growth and new products.
Resilient communications must leave the lab and reach the field
Contested environments turn connectivity into an operational constraint: fixed infrastructure can disappear, satellites can be jammed and conventional wireless links can reveal their position. TERASi's pocket-sized RU1 uses directional millimetre-wave links to move gigabit-speed data without fibre or towers. Its value depends on combining bandwidth with rapid deployment, low detectability and resistance to interference in one field-ready system.
The seed round shifts the commercial challenge from component performance to repeatable deployment. Defence customers need integration with vehicles, drones and command systems, followed by procurement and field validation. If TERASi can standardise that integration across allied users, each contract can expand a common platform; if requirements fragment by programme, engineering and procurement capacity will constrain growth.
