€425k · Other round · E-commerce · Berlin, Germany
Berlin-based ToysReloved has raised €425,000 in funding from the Berlin Angel Fund and business angels including idealo co-founder Albrecht von Sonntag, GermanZero board member Martin Oetting and Billbee founder David Pohlmann. The round exceeded the company’s original €350,000 target, according to Deutsche Startups.
Founded in 2024 by Bennet Görlitz and Sascha Müller, ToysReloved takes on work that families often avoid when reselling toys individually. Sellers send items to its Berlin warehouse, where the company checks, cleans, photographs, describes and lists suitable products. ToysReloved says it sells through its own shop and partner marketplaces, then shares the proceeds with the seller under a commission model. Its current service terms pay sellers 50% of the sale price after a €10 minimum commission per item.
The funding targets the operational bottleneck
Second-hand toys are a difficult inventory category because each incoming item has to be identified, graded and priced before a relatively low-value sale can happen. That makes processing speed and consistency central to the economics. Business Angels Club Berlin-Brandenburg says ToysReloved’s Reloved OS combines AI-assisted product recognition, pricing, inventory control and multi-channel distribution. The company plans to use the round to increase processing capacity, standardise workflows and automate more of that system.
This is also a two-sided trust problem. Families supplying inventory want a low-effort route to a fair payout, while buyers need confidence that used products are complete, clean and accurately described. ToysReloved says every item is manually checked and cleaned, applies a transparent condition scale, and offers buyers 30-day returns. Its company timeline says the shop launched in October 2024 and has since recirculated more than 4,500 toys; that is company-reported traction rather than independently audited data.
Scale depends on keeping service quality intact
The round gives ToysReloved more capacity, but the commercial test is whether automation can reduce the handling cost per item without weakening quality control. More sales channels can improve the probability that an item finds a buyer, yet they also add catalogue, stock and fulfilment complexity. The value of Reloved OS will therefore show up less in the use of AI itself than in faster intake, accurate pricing, fewer listing errors and reliable inventory across channels.
The company previously raised €180,000 from business angels in 2025, bringing the two disclosed rounds to €605,000. The new investors add experience in consumer brands, e-commerce and scaling, which fits the immediate task: turning a labour-heavy resale service into a repeatable operation while maintaining the trust that brings both sellers and buyers back.
