£2.5m · Other round · Healthtech · London, UK
London-based Unravel Health has announced a £2.5m funding round to develop its at-home hormone-monitoring system. EU-Startups reports that the company completed a first close of more than £2m on 14 October, with the remaining investors expected to join in the following weeks. The round is backed by the Conduit EIS Impact Fund, Wrightwood, Leo Capital, Embryo Ventures, HERmesa and returning investor Zinc VC.
Founded in 2024 by Veronika Bridgman, Liza Levy and Dr Alexandra Oti, Unravel is building a palm-sized Micro Lab that uses saliva to measure oestradiol alongside three other hormones in minutes. The underlying technology was developed over more than a decade at the University of Glasgow and is protected by three granted patents, according to Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst.
Daily measurement could turn a snapshot into a time series
Hormone levels vary through the day and across a cycle, while a conventional blood test usually captures one point in time. Unravel's proposition is to move repeated measurement into the home, giving users and care teams a longitudinal view rather than relying on an isolated reading. The company says the system is intended to support areas including fertility, menopause and endocrine conditions.
The device is only one part of that product. A useful monitoring service must make sample collection repeatable, translate multiple readings into understandable patterns and show that its results are comparable with established laboratory methods. Unravel says the new funding will support external equivalency studies, additional biomarkers and the start of its regulatory process. Those steps are the immediate execution test: the value of frequent data depends on measurement quality and clear limits on how the information can be used.
The round funds validation before early access
Unravel plans to place early-access devices with pharmacy, digital-health and clinical-research partners in 2027. That partner route could give the company distribution and real-world feedback without requiring it to build a direct consumer channel first. It also raises the standard for evidence, because partners will need a product that fits their workflows and communicates results responsibly.
The financing follows more than £1m in earlier support from Innovate UK, the Medical Research Council, SBRI and strategic angels. The current round therefore moves Unravel from technology development toward validation and regulatory preparation. Its commercial opportunity is not simply to sell a reader: it is to establish a repeated testing routine that produces reliable, interpretable data over time. Whether that routine becomes durable will depend on equivalency results, regulatory progress and partner adoption ahead of the planned 2027 early-access launch.
