€5m · Seed · Software · Odense, Denmark
Odense-based Velatir, which gives companies visibility and control over the AI tools used across their workforce, has raised €5m in Seed funding. Spintop Ventures and Ugly Duckling Ventures co-led the round, with participation from Norrsken Evolve, the Danish Export and Investment Fund (EIFO), Jan Oberhauser and Thomas Visti. The company says the capital will support European expansion and hiring.
The round comes six months after a DKK 10m pre-seed. The Next Web reports that EIFO participated through a match loan and that Velatir has not disclosed revenue, customer numbers or valuation.
AI governance moves into the operating layer
Velatir is built around a problem that grows as employees adopt AI faster than central procurement can approve it: policy may say which tools are allowed, while browsers, software vendors and autonomous agents create a much wider live estate. The platform is designed to sit across endpoints, browsers, vendors, employees, agents and underlying infrastructure, reporting which tools are in use, what data moves through them and what they cost. It also brings policy guardrails into one control point and maintains a directory of more than 4,000 AI tools, according to Spintop's investment announcement.
That architecture makes discovery the entry point rather than the finished product. A useful inventory can show security and compliance teams where unsanctioned tools or sensitive data flows exist; the commercial value comes from turning that evidence into controls employees can work within. Velatir's challenge is therefore coverage: if important tools, devices or agent actions remain outside the view, customers may still need parallel audits and policy systems.
European infrastructure is part of the proposition
Velatir says the platform runs entirely on European-owned and hosted infrastructure. That choice can matter to buyers who treat data location and supplier dependence as part of the AI risk review, but it also raises the execution bar. The company must keep integrations broad and deployment light while sustaining an infrastructure position that excludes the hyperscalers used by much of enterprise software.
The founders' backgrounds match that procurement problem. Spintop says CEO Michael Sørensen previously led technology and security audits across Meta's data-centre portfolio, while COO Christian Møller worked on AI Act and DORA implementation at a large European financial group. This Seed round funds the move from that compliance-led credibility into a repeatable European sales and deployment model. The test is whether Velatir can become the control layer customers keep as models and AI tools change, rather than another dashboard added to an already fragmented governance stack.
